Advice about Debt Consolidation

Hiya all

At the moment we are currently waiting for our mortgage to go through, it has been accepted, just paid the solicitors searchers fees this week so could take another 3/4 weeks if Im right in my thinking.

Ok the thing is, we have 2 cars on finance (my car and dp's car) which currently takes a big chunk out of our monthly income. We are hoping to get one big loan (say 10k) to pay them both off. But we arent officially home owners yet. Which route would you suggest we take?

By doing this hoping to get out monthly payments cut in half, currently paying £250 a month out on the bloody cars! If we could get a loan to pay them off in full and cut it in half we could live comfortably.

We are on the verge of sending back DP's car. Its not practical, clio sport injection, eats petrol like theres no tomorrow, but he loves it! You know what men and there toys are like! Mine is a more practical 5 door car and cheaper monthly payments so mine would obviously the one that we keep!

Our credit history isnt great either tbh. I just dont know where to start looking!

Any ideas?

these two are the only debts we have really till our mortgage comes through!

You will have to wait 6 months as a homeowner before getting a loan.... Then even with a less than perfect credit rating, you'll get a decent % loan.

Debt consolidation is not always a good idea if you go through the schemes advertised on the TV because the interest can add YEARS onto the time taken to pay back! if you are going to get a loan to pay off other loans definatly try banks first. The best thing would be for DP sell his car! best to sell it now than it be repossed in a couple of months time!!!!
