Just changed from our price protector to march 2017with Npower and it will save us approx £480 less per year.
Really easy to do.
I just rang the lowest quote with no tie in which was GBenergysupply and it was all done within 5 minutes. 0800 6444 451.
The big 6 take the mick. Npower alone has about 30 different tariffs, they are getting away with confusing people and the general apathy of people who can't be bothered to change.

Ive just saved £50 per month switching to Sainsbos! I used the Martin Lewis guide and it was very easy!

specialsubject · 18/03/2015 20:03

check if it will really save you that much, the figures are rigged.

of course your smaller company doesn't generate anything, just resells - so if we all switch....pffft.

TheDetective · 18/03/2015 20:05

I've switched too, and checked it all thoroughly. I'm saving £75 a month (more really, but I've increased my DD's just in case).

Was paying £200 a month. Now paying £125, but they wanted £105 for the DD.

NotMrsTumble · 18/03/2015 20:06

Ovo all the way, just for the customer service, the saving is a bonus.

specialsubject · 18/03/2015 21:29

fair enough.

but do knock up a quick spreadsheet with actual unit prices, standing charges and your usage. (As detective seems to have done).

I'm coming to the end of my fix - the switch sites tell me I'll save £50 a year, the actual saving is £2 due to the rigged algorithms. I don't have much scope to save as am on electricity only and use very little.

I'm with mrstumble, Ovo are brilliant. They are real people and they can answer your questions.

We've saved loads over the last year and when our fix was coming to an end they wrote and told us instead of trying to then put us on their highest possible tariff and hope that we didn't notice.

Never heard of Ovo, but they sound good. Like speaking to real people rather than spending ages trawling FAQ sections for answers or ringing abroad.
The main reason why I think First Direct are the best Bank for Customer Service.
