first £1000 tax free

In the budget ,they have announced that the first £1000 you make on your savings ( which must be a lot of savings) will be tax free.
. Does this mean putting money in an isa now is no different to say a good rate current account?

This measure may well make cash ISAs redundant for all but the wealthiest savers.

Bear in mind it comes into effect from April 2016, so ISA it until then!

its not for another year
but the banks will be utterly delighted as they LOATHE the paperwork of deducting tax and dealing with R85s

I'll be utterly delighted at not having to fill in those bloody forms, and then those forms being ignored and having to fill in more forms at the end of the tax year.

I think long term ISAs might be beneficial as you may earn more in the future, rates may go up or a future government will reverse this change.
