And I don't mean skint as in I can't afford that £50 dress I want. I mean skint as in I can't afford a packet of toilet roll ð???ð???

Not in that position personally but have been in the past and didn't want your post to go unanswered. Has this situation been going on for some time or has there been a crisis?

Hi cogito thanks for the reply. Had a bit of a meltdown this morning and got myself worked up.
It wasn't so much of a crisis in the actual being but the fact that I lost one of my part time jobs late last year (the one with the most income), and I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant. Don't get me wrong my partner works full time but a lot of his wage is going on the rent and household bills, other than food shopping which I'm managing to do with my wage. So there is no disposable income and it's just hard getting used to the situation. In late December (31st to be precise) my cars tax was due which left me short right up until January's pay day (which is always near the end of the month), so January's pay was used on trying to catch up with things such as phone bill etc that hadn't been paid, food shopping, and car insurance. And there's still another 2 weeks until this months pay day.

So I'm just having the odd day when I'm really dwelling on things ??
It's nothing that can be fixed until well after baby is here and I'm in a position to work more hours etc, so I'm just trying to get on with it.
Thanks again x

Hi, I have been very skint in the past, then cruised along nicely and am just about to be ultra skint again unless a miracle happens. It sucks it really does, especially when you are getting no younger. It is really tough, and I hope things get better for you. Congrats though with the pregnancy. I do a lot of online surveys to keep my nectar points up, it is time consuming but can be interesting and I currently have 23.00 worth of points, which will help with essentials if I get desperate, maybe you could do this on maternity leave?

When I was in that situation once - admittedly a long time ago - I went through all my regular outgoings, all the direct debits, bills, subscriptions etc, trawled the comparison sites for better deals and ruthlessly chopped anything that wasn't 100% essential. Even £5.00 saved here and there helps

Thankyou grumpy that's a good idea.
It's something to keep me busy too.

Thanks cogito- I have one of those money boxes that count how much you are putting in as you go along so hopefully that might help with saving
