I have already done this with HMRC, asking what information they have on file pertaining to anyone else apparently living at this address.

duckeggblue123 · 06/02/2015 11:55

I've phoned Concentrix again this morning and managed to get through to a very sympathetic person who confirmed that this letter is being sent out to EVERYONE claiming tax credits as a single parent! I pointed out the amount of stress and upset this is causing to presumably thousands of innocent people and he agreed and said I should submitted a complaint about it. He said they don't enjoy having to take the phone calls from the distraught people either but they just do as they are told. He could not tell me due to data protection who is supposed to be living with me and insisted I must send bank statements and utilities bills. When I asked how bank statements prove someone lives alone he said they go through all the transactions to see is there are any regular payments which do not relate to work income. So presumably after sending in our details we can expect to have to justify every deposit made on our accounts for the last 9 months!

PeppermintLatte · 06/02/2015 11:59

Hi duckegg I have been targeted by Concentrix due to being self employed, i've had to send everything but the kitchen sink in to them including months and months worth of bank statements. I'm a single parent and I live with my Mother and Sister. I had my decision back yesterday saying my tax credits won't be adjusted, thank God. Please don't say i'm going to have to go through all this again in months to come just because i'm a single parent?!! It's been a nightmare! I better get prepared just incase. What are the asking for, bank statements and what else?

plh74 · 06/02/2015 12:02

I am so glad I have found this page I received a letter monday saying they have evidence another person is living with me I am a single mum and live with my two children I have been worried sick and upset I cant find my divorce papers to send off when I rang monday the system was down I was told try again two hours later It took me over an hr and half to get threw after been put on hold 7 times and it cutting off after so long then getting threw to a really horrid woman who told me I had to send all the things listed in I told her I havent noone living with me she said something has flagged up and I can only think that my ex husbands name is still on my mortgage its awful what they are putting everyone through.

PeppermintLatte · 06/02/2015 12:03

Bare in mind, none of the bills are in mine or my sister's name, only my Mum's. I give her whatever I can afford to give her in cash every week. I am on the electoral roll at her address and assume that the council tax know i'm there as she doesn't get single person discount. The only problem might be that i'm still registered at the Dr's in my old address (The one I lived with ex in) My DD is also registered in her Dad's address for school but the school said this was fine. All my bank statements/car insurance/Next account/Mobile phone account is registered at my Mums.

I'm NOT a single parent and I got one Sad

vickipoo · 06/02/2015 12:08

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had a response from Concentrix yet? Its been worrying me for weeks, I got my letter at the beginning of January asking to confirm work hours for myself and my husband for the last tax year. Ive sent off all our payslips and letters from employers to confirm our work hours and a letter to confirm i was on maternity leave since May of last year, only problem is there is a difference of 5 hours between what we worked to what tax credits have for us but we were both still over the combined 30 hours needed to qualify. Should I be worried?

Hi Vicki, i received the same letter as you but the difference is that I'm single. I'm still waiting for the outcome of their decision! I sent all my docs to them 3 weeks ago and had it sent back last Monday. When did u sent yours docs to them?

LetBartletBeBartlet · 06/02/2015 13:19

Update: I've had a final letter from Concentrix.

Dated 29th Jan (so, day after they returned my paperwork).

Word for word:

' We have completed our check on your tax credits award to 5 April 2015

Thank you for your reply to our letter of 15 Jan 2015

I have reviewed the information you gave us and do not need to amend your reward.

If you have an adviser acting for you, please show them this letter'

A bit of spiel about hMRC/Concentrix and asking to quote my NI and case number is I call them.

No apology, and surprise surprise, no change to my tax credits as my claim is genuine.

Have already raised this with my local MP and CAB.

pepsi123 · 06/02/2015 13:21

I had one of theses letters saying that we may have evidence another adult lives with you.Well they do I have a very close friend staying here at the moment as my 16 year old has severe anxiety and mental health issues and needs someone here while I work evenings cleaning for 4 hours a night.Receieved my documents back today along with the covering letter I was told to send. This is just extra stress on people who are already struggling, makes you just want to give up on working and sit at home on full benefits.Even had to send a copy of my sons referral letter from CHAMS to prove his condition as if this living with this isn't bad enough.I just wish they would chase my ex for money he has never paid for any of his children.Makes me sick.

LynnOllie · 06/02/2015 13:22

SWLady01
When I rang Concentrix, I asked what the evidence was and she told me.
I have had to ring them twice and both times, they have been really nice. I believe they are working for the minimum wage so a lot of the staff must be claiming tax credits too.

pepsi123 · 06/02/2015 13:32

Has anybody been asked to pay tax credits back by concentrix

pepsi123 · 06/02/2015 13:33

They are nice on the phone but you still have to send everything of so pretty pointless trying to call them which takes ages to get through

Someone needs to they are causing untold stress on people who already are living on the edge.Have applied for two extra jobs this week.Would rather work 24 hours a day than have this crap from a govt who let absent fathers get away with everything to squirm out of paying. If my ex payed properly wouldn't even have to claim the stupid money.

Thanks, LynnOllie. That's bad that Concentrix tell some of us what the "evidence" is, but not others.

belledelettres · 06/02/2015 16:12

I had a letter saying they had evidence that a person was living with me. The person named is someone who lives in the same building but in a flat on the floor below me. When I rang Concentrix they said their system doesn't differentiate between people living in flats in the same building. They were unable to explain why my name has been linked with my neighbour. I have contacted Scottish Daily Mail, Daily Record, my MP and my MSP.

242Jane242 · 06/02/2015 16:44

I Have also received not one but two of these letters one saying they may have evidence of an other adult living with me and one to confirm my self employment. Both asking for mainly the same info. I'm very reluctant to send all the info they request as I can't really see how most of it will prove anything. I also stopped claiming tax credit at the beginning of January as I'm no longer self employed and had to start claiming JSA instead, so I'm now wondering if they will also be investigating me and stop my JSA. Life is hard enough without the added stress this is causing, at timesI think I should just sell my house and move to another country and start over. Its ridiculous that the only people that these agency's target are us that are usually struggling to make ends meet.

SWLady01 · 06/02/2015 16:53

242Jane242 they should have enough evidence from your Tax Return to know you are self-employed.

Someone on here said Concentrix want to see all your business receipts, but there is no way I'd send these to them as you know you'll probably never see half (or all) of them again. Same goes for divorce paperwork. And are they seriously going to go through millions of people's self-employed business receipts etc with a fine tooth comb? I can't think they have the manpower.

Taffygirl123 · 06/02/2015 17:06

Hi, I also received a letter - a name was given for the adult that is supposed to be living with me. I have never heard of this person and there is no chance that this address is associated with any other name other than my family within the last 40 years! I've just spoken to Concentrix - only took a few minutes to get through. I was told that their systems are down at the moment and to call back after the weekend. The nice (but slightly stressed sounding!) girl informed me that when I call back I may well be told that the letter has been sent out by mistake and I will not need to send any paperwork!
