I've just completed my dh self assessment form online. we do it because we still receive child benefit.
Its saying we owe £896 by the 31st of Jan!!

He earned £55000 before tax, after tax it was £43000.They didn't ask me to input what he pays into his work pension that is taken at source?
which is £6000 approx per year.
I thought that counted.

I am so worried, I, maybe stupidly thought that with his pension contributions we would be under the threshhold.

can someone please advise me?

The amount that he took home would be after pension if it is done through work?

Listen to the taxman is a great simple website- you can put in your figures

Thank you.
Is that why it doesn't ask for pension contributions on the self assessment form?

I will look at that website

What did it say in the p60 for taxable pay? This should be his pay after the deduction of pension contributions.
So if the taxable pay on his p60 was £55k, then his total gross salary including £6k of pension contributions would be £61k

What does it say on his payslips? They usually show gross pay and taxable pay as two separate amounts

He doesn't get them in his hand anymore. Only online for the past year.
I think I've made a mistake in thinking the pension contributions would come of the £55000 when calculating how much CB is.
feeling like a numpty now
