Being taken to small claims for £123.50 should I just settle?

Bstd ex customer is taking me to small payment court over a disputed bill. Says he will add costs to claim.

Have already split the difference over the dispute (some ?400) and I am loathed to pay the nasty oily oik another penny.

If I ask my solicitor for advise the cost will be more than the saving so.. WHAT DO I DO?

Hmmm, in a way I think, just pay it and hope he never darkens your door again! And email all the other site owners in The Lakes and tell them his name

What is the dispute about?

He will be hoping you don't contest it - if he is not clearly in the right and you do contest it (you don't need a solicitor from what I've read, it's a user-friendly court and all you need is your paperwork) he might back off.

Have you tried Which's legal service? Non-members can join, you get advice free (well, included) and they will write letters for you for a fixed charge.

Sensible maybe, but after a full analysis, what do you think your / their chances are ? I think if you feel you have been reasonable and fair and that in the eyes of a 'reasonable person' judgement would go your way, why not go for it ?
