Buying a Flat and Probate granted

Has anybody been through the process of buying a property where probate must be granted? We are buying a flat and our solicitors has got a copy of the Grant of Probate from the Vendor's solicitor. Our solicitor sent it back to them asking for it to be stamped as a true copy. The Vendor's solicitor says that it will not be stamped and they will provide an office copy of the Grant of Probate on completion.

Surely there must be a standard procedure in probate cases. It appears to me that the two solicitors have differing views on the matter.
