Has this happened to anyone else and what was the outcome?
I pressed for £20 the machine gave me £10 outside a Sainsbury's I walked into the store and went straight to the customer services (without putting hands in pockets etc) and reported it to them. They checked that the money boxes were the right way up and said they were I then had to go to town to get a mini statments (as thier machine dosn't do these) went back to the store whereupon I was told the admin manager would be in at 12.00 they took my number and they will call back. No news as yet.
Anyone know where I stand on this. If they have CCTV and watched it they would see I didn't put my hands in my pockets, bag etc between using the machine and going to customer services.
Will I get my £10 back

The bank responsible would be able to tell as there will be £10 extra in the safe compared to the requests made by the machine. I don't know if they would go to the effort of actually doing this but it may be worth contacting the bank. They may investigate or they may refund you as a good will gesture.

I would think so, as surely their machine would be £10 up! I seem to remember a woman i worked with claiming she got £100 out of her ATM instead of £10, and saying she wasn't going to tell them as they wouldn't know and another friend who worked at the bank said they can tell which account has taken out which money, or not as the case may be

It was a sainsburys bank, though I am with the HSBC

Maybe it would be worth ringing hSBC and ask them what you can do about it?

When I first went in they got in a flap thinking the cash holders had been put in the wrong way up and the machine was giving out £20's instead of £10's and vice versa after checking they realised it wasn't. Is it possible that a £10 was put in with the £20's in the machine and I was the unfortunate one that got it?

i worked for a well known high st bank and our policy in a situation like that was to simply refund the amount. for under £30 we dont even do an investigation just credit the money back to the account.
