virgin media cancellation fee??

called virgin during the week to find out how I go about cancelling my services as im moving in less than 30 days and the place im going has virgin was told I would need to pay a £240 cancellation fee can this be right?? im having troubles with money as it is

should I phone again and explain or just pay it

IM going to disconnect virgin when my contract runs out. Was going to do it at the start of the year, but they charge a certain amount for each month you have left on your contract with them. So if you have a long contract left it could well be that much.

If you say that the place that you are moving to has Virgin then why aren't they just porting your account?

It's pretty standard to have an early termination charge, and the monthly cost (for each month remaining on your contract) for this will have been in your T&Cs when you signed up. How long ago did you sign up, and do you remember how long the contract was for? (standard tends to be 18 months these days).
