Tax repayment

Hello, sorry if this isn't in the right place, I just wanted some clarification, I tried to call the tax office but after a 30 minute wait I couldn't wait anymore due to abroad call charges!

I received a P800 saying that I had a repayment due, am I right in assuming that this is a tax rebate? I can't see the original letter because I'm currently abroad and my sister only sent me a picture of the bottom of the letter.

The next question is I received my payslip for my new job a few days after this, it didn't say that the rebate had been paid into my pay, would it say if it had? Will it be paid by cheque if it hasn't?

Sorry for the vagueness of the questions, I haven't got a lot of information myself and my sister and the pay role people at work aren't any clearer!

Thank you

Your cheque will arrive in a week or to
your employer will not be informed of this - it will not go through your pay unless they decide to change your tax code

It will go automatically in your pay if its for this tax year, which I very much doubt as you got a notice. It will arrive in he next couple of weeks by cheque. Ex HMRC here.
