Hi I'm a single mum. I have had a baby 6 months ago and have been claiming SMA through the jobcentre. Now I don't want to go back to work and want to go back to college. Can I claim income support? Will I have to pay back the SMA? Thank you in advance

You won't have to repay the statutory MA amount. You need to speak to your JC adviser about eligibility for IS.

Any idea which benefit is processed quickly income support or jsa ? Income support have lost my claim form. I'm enrolled on a course and they want to process my childcare fees to the nursery but can't till I show them my benefit letter. I am panicking now as my kids have been in nursery a week I'm worried the funding will be gone by the time I get my benefit. Can't see the college holding on too long. ?

with a child under 5 you'd normally be on IS not JSA unless you were actively looking for ft work.
