Please could you check online to see what the dvla say about your tax status please?

I'm concerned that as of Monday I won't be able to drive my company car to work.

Please use the DVLA if you have or have not yet renewed please and tell me what is days to try settle my mind??

Many thanks!

Mine was due to expire on 31st August and I recently renewed and received my tax disc in the post. It shows the correct information online also.

That's what inward dreading :( seems like the company haven't taxed my car - wouldn't be so bad but it's emissions qualify it for free tax! It's just not been applied for I guess ?

Hmm maybe they think that because tax discs are being abolished and it's tax-exempt they don't need to tax it?

Can you check with them tomorrow? My car is tax exempt and as I had the reminder notice code I could do it all online immediately. Maybe they can do that.

FiloFunky · 28/08/2014 17:53

My line manager asked and was told the tax is free so it doesn't need to be paid for. No renewal notice has arrived at the premises it should have (checked with the admin staff there) so in not sure how they could have sorted it without a renewal notice?

I suffer with anxiety and this is really causing me upset (may be daft to some but it's something I have no control for and nothing I can remedy myself. Which leaves me feeling upset) I guess I will have to walk to work on Monday and leave the car on the drive Hmm

If you can get hold of the renewals notice (or just the code on it) could you do it yourself?

FiloFunky · 28/08/2014 18:11

I haven't seen the renewals slip - not have the admin team at the office it should go to. That's what concerns me.

Also I'm not the owner the company is so don't think I can request one?

I don't see anything wrong or excessively anxious in wanting to be street-legal!

issue a good kicking to your admin people tomorrow morning, explaining that you can't drive the car unless the disk has been applied for, so can't get to work unless they provide a taxi. So perhaps they would like to do their jobs?

one phone call to the DVLA will sort it.

FiloFunky · 28/08/2014 19:30

It's the company directors that sort it. And things have been a tad awkward with them recently. I'll have to walk if not sorted and hope it's done in the not too distant future.

So there is no tax. There had been no reminder.
And the v5 cannot be found ConfusedConfused

In short without the v5 or the renewal letter - it cannot be taxed. A car that requires no payment Confused

So I guess I walk to work until a solution is found

looks like it. That is a spectacular chain of incompetence!!

a company car is part of your salary, so this is a pay cut. Most unimpressive.

I hope they've remembered to insure it.

Bohemond · 29/08/2014 15:57

Are you sure there is not a way of renewing without the reminder - I think you can go online and put in the number plate if you don't have the letter?

FiloFunky · 29/08/2014 16:26

Insurance not due until October so I'm ok on that part!

Don't you have a few weeks leeway to pay tax anyway?
