Word of caution on turning down CB. If you're just over the lower threshold or if you anticipate that your earnings may go down at some point, it's best to keep hold of it. Also, some people get put off by the prospect of filing a self-assessment return. If you're a higher rate taxpayer and contribute to a personal pension or make charitable donations, you could potentially get a refund from a tax return.
