Dh and I can be quite disorganised with our money and we are both about to become full time students so we really need to manage our money much better .

I had the idea of each getting a prepaid credit card and I load mine with amount to cover bills etc he loads his with amount to cover petrol/food shopping . Is this a genius idea or a ridiculous idea ?

Good idea I think for what you are suggesting.

Just be aware at hotels, online shopping etc they act like a debit card. So any pre authorisations completed will hold a while. The hotel etc is unlikely to realise as they carry the Mastercard logo.

Thanks . I've just been looking into it there seems like they are pretty straight forward and can use them anywhere that accepts cards .

Have used when on holidays. Means less cash carried about.

We also use them on holiday when going out of Europe.
I also always keep a spare one in my purse with some money on if I want to shop somewhere but don't fees comfortable giving my card details, it means I'm safe from the risk of fraudulent transactions or card cloning etc.

I think they are fab.
