Mortgage payment holiday

As of the end of next month my 9 months of maternity pay is up. I want another 3 months off as I want to spend time with my youngest and get my older daughter settled at preschool etc.

We could probably struggle through the three months but wondered if I could take a couple of months mortgage holiday? I'm with Santander. Bought house 18 months ago on a 5 year fixed deal. No late payments or arrears.

Is it in your mortgage terns that you can? If so of then yes, if not, then there's not a chance. It was a condition if some mortgages, not all.

You'll have to ask your provider. No one here will know the answer ...

Usually you can. My mortgage company (Halifax) let me have six months holiday (that was their limit so I can't have more).

Your repayments will rise slightly though, to makeup the shortfall.

I've just gone through all my paperwork and can not find anything relating to this. I think I will have to phone the mortgage advisor who set my mortgage up 18 months ago to find our more.
