I'm sorry. How upsetting for you. Do they fully understand the circumstances? What was the company that went into liquidation.

iota · 11/09/2006 12:16

How very mean of them
Take the prints on offer. You can always get them enlarged print from print

and you can scan them

SpaceCadet · 11/09/2006 12:16

yorkiegirl..have you explained the situation to them, is there someone else that could ring on your behalf?
i dont know about the legalities of copyright etc where a company has gone into liquidation, but could you scan the small prints then enlarge them on the computer?

FrannyandZooey · 11/09/2006 12:16

YG, from the 6 x 4 you will be able to get them scanned and put on CD, and enlarged or whatever you like. Just take them to a reputable firm with digital equipment and they will sort it all out for you.

I am sorry to hear you have such hassles to deal with.

Oh no...I'm not surprised you upset

Are they on your camera's memory card?

If they are you can print them off straight from that, boots have those self service machines....

I know it still own't be on disc but you'll have the photos in hand IYSWIM.

sorrell · 11/09/2006 12:18

Was just suggesting seeing if they have been bought out or have a parent company so you can put pressure that way. What company are you dealing with? If you contact the consumer department of a newspaper like the Mail I bet they would help you.

shimmy21 · 11/09/2006 12:19

Could you talk to the liquidators directly as they would now have the financial say so?

Twiglett · 11/09/2006 12:20

YG .. this must be devastating for you .. personally I would go down and speak to the managing director .. it is more difficult to say no face to face

mazzystar · 11/09/2006 12:21

and for you

If the company that took them has gone into liquidation, surely copyright no longer applies? Irs not as if they have any resale value is it?

Can you speak to someone very senior about it?

YG, I'd talk to one of those "solve your problems" columns in the papers ... yes, copyright etc etc, but really, this is a bit of a special circumstance ...

charliecat · 11/09/2006 12:23

Have you gone into the shop personally? You might get more luck that way, it would have to be a complete jobsworth to stand there saying no to your face.

fairyjay · 11/09/2006 12:25

Under the circumstances, to turn down your request is totally heartless. Why don't you try speaking to the MD's secretary/PA - and ask her what you have to do (or pay ) to get a disc with the pictures on. Hopefully, the MD will be sympathetic if he is made aware of the situation.

Can anyone else do this for you - I'd have a go if it would help?

So sorry you have to deal with this.

agree that someone in the media might be interested in making a story out of it, therefore putting pressure on them to back down. would try to explore that avenue, among others.

how f'ing awful.

good luck and best wishes xx

my immediate reaction was "phone the papers" but i can imagine that would be the last thing you'd want to do right now. so sorry to hear this.

charliecat · 11/09/2006 12:27

If they are prepared to give you the prints then why not just give you the disk thats stupid

NappiesGalore · 11/09/2006 12:28

and refuse to speak to anyone but the top banana about it. if some 'manager' hasnt got the power or humanity to deal with your problem compassionately, then go over their heads. it is of vital importance to you, and should be to them. b*ards.

Twiglett · 11/09/2006 12:28

who took the photos and what for?

if you have the strength I'd call the local papers .. bloody hell I'd stand outside with a sandwich board

SoupDragon · 11/09/2006 12:31

I don't think you'd get a very good quality enlargement from a scanned 6x4 print unfortunately.

Can you negotiate with the company? Offer to buy the copyright from them? (no idea what the cost would be)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/09/2006 12:31

Contact the media...the sun, the mirror - they tend to grab at this kind of thing.....

Im not sure you necessarily want your face splashed across the papers but it might get you what you want...?
