anorak · 11/09/2006 12:47

Just want to say that I agree with those who say go to the papers. Don't wait for local paper, go to a national.

I hope these people can't sleep at night

misdee · 11/09/2006 12:47

unfortunaly photographers like this will make you pay for prints and wont let you have them on cd.

littlerach · 11/09/2006 12:48

They are really gorgeous girls.

Would it help if we all emailed the company on your behalf?

SoupDragon · 11/09/2006 12:49

I'd start with a local because it'll be easier to get the story in. Also, it might acheive the main objective which is to get the CD without having to go to a tabloid national.

tissy · 11/09/2006 12:49

but do get some nice big prints before you go to the papers, because the quality of those "photos of photos" was great! It would be a shame to put their backs up and discover that the pictures had been deleted before you have copies

meowmix · 11/09/2006 12:50

do you have a local parish priest/vicar/GP who would speak on your behalf to them.. man of authority to man of authority as it were? or could one of DHs friends do the "we're all reasonable men here" malarkey. Might be worth a try.

otherwise call the local paper's editor and ask if he can get his picture desk to call in the photo electronically for you in return for the story

what tossers tho. unbelievable.

Ooooh - I like the idea of a Mumsnet email campaign! Maybe a joint forum venture....

tortoiseshell · 11/09/2006 12:51

SOrry they're being so crap YG. Does your local radio station do any sort of problem solving? Ours will tackle companies to sort out things like this. If the company is advertising themselves as a family photography company then they really won't want to be seen in this bad light. But I agree you should get the 6x4 before doing anything else just in case they delete them.

heavenis · 11/09/2006 12:53

Is that all they are offering a 6x4. Would they do a larger one for you. I'd be happy to help.
If people could only put themselves in the same position how would they feel it's beyond belief.

LIZS · 11/09/2006 12:56

Do you know the name of the actual photographer who took the pics - wonder if he may have more sway ? Definitely get a copy of all the 6*4's before doing anything though. They probably think that is sufficient a gesture - mean b-st-ds.

It doesn't make good business sense let alone show compassion. If they just keep them on file rather than offer to sell you a copy CD then you don't buy anything more so they are going to lose out financially and risk their reputation. Even if they let you have a copy now, you might still go back to them for some mounted ones as and when you can afford it.

morley observer used to be a nice newsteam

used to work with them sometimes when I worked for the Batley News

unfortunately it's 10 years ago now so I don't know anyone to put you onto

sorry

SoupDragon · 11/09/2006 12:57

Definitely get the prints they're offering before doing anything. Try your hardest to get them to provide larger prints of your X favourite shots too.

When you have the prints, try again for the CD. Offer to pay a reasonable amount for it. If they refuse, tell them you're going o the press.

charliecat · 11/09/2006 12:57

I cant belive they looked for them, and found them, and now this...WTF?

Cappuccino · 11/09/2006 12:58

sorry crossposted with you Yorkiegirl

so glad to hear it's sorted out

anorak · 11/09/2006 12:58

Thank goodness for that!

Bloody shameful they put you through all that grief though.

Tutter · 11/09/2006 12:58

tortoiseshell · 11/09/2006 12:59
