inaccurate bank statement

I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do in the following situation. I've noticed on my online bank statement that one of my transactions is for more money than I actually spent on that occasion. I don't have a receipt to prove that I'd spent less. I'm asking here because it's been impossible to use the HSBC online message service. It keeps saying I've entered an invalid character, which I hadn't and then saying that I can't continue with the message! I don't want to ring any of the suggested numbers as I'll get a call centre.
Any ideas?
thanks dawnx

Could you contact the place where you bought item(s)/services? It may be a genuine mistake that they can rectify. If it's a dodgy employee the company may want to know if someone is ripping off customers.

In your situation I would also persevere with contacting the bank.
