Incorrect Marital Status for 3 Years!

expatinscotland · 05/09/2006 10:24

I just found out today that Personnel has designated me as 'single' w/regards to marital status since I began here 3 years ago.

Does that make a difference as to how I have been taxed?

P.S., I have been married for 4 years and never worked in the UK at all until after I was married.

Probably not. I would have thought your tax allowances would be unaffected by this as the married person's allowance was phased out years ago.

Cappuccino · 05/09/2006 10:26

I don't think so

I think the married person's tax allowance was phased out a while back so it only applies to older people

but I'm sure someone with some real information will be on soon

only thing I can think of is stuff like life insurance, pensions etc which might have enhanced benefits for a spouse

but I'm just talking out my arse really

They're such nuggets.

They lost my P60, too.

Unless you have a pension, in which case you might want to check the beneficiaries (sp?) then no, it doesn't make a difference.

Oh look, Cappuccino already said that.

Bugger off StG
