i have just received a letter from HMRC wanting my hours, I work 17.5 hours a week which allow me to claim WTC, i work at a school so I work 43 weeks out of 52. Should i worry, my son is still at school

How do you mean? Just tell them 17.5 hrs per week, term-time only. Which should match with what you told them in the first place. If they have made any kind of mistake based on correct information, you won't be held responsible.

Except if you work 17.5hrs per week term term onky your average over the year is 14.5
