Tax credits - if X-H pays the mortgage as part of our divorce settlement

Would I still get tax credits? I am new to this. Live with DS in the ex-marital home and almost X-H is going to continue paying the mortgage until Ds is 18 or I can buy him out (hopefully much sooner). I have a part time job of 15 hours a week and am selfemployed approx 6 hours a week. We split financially in January - I have been struggling on not a lot of money, just went on tax credits calculator and it is coming up with a figure of over £6k a year - which is wow but I can't believe thats right?! Rang tax credits last week and am waiting for a claim form to come rhough the post...

Maintenance payments (which the mortgage payments would be counted as) are not taken into account when calculating tax credits. Good luck with your claim
