Afternoon all! In 2009 when I was too young to understand the ins and outs I got a mortgage for a 50% share in my house. The housing assoc (asra) have the other half. Ive read through the gobbledygoop lease that was made for the previous owner and nowhere is it made clear who is responsible for what repairs and maintenance.

Is there anyone here who knows about this sort of thing and can clarify it for me. Asra are no help, everytime I have to deal with them im left waiting for days while people flap because its a shared ownership issue and they don't know what to do.

Im currently waiting for them to repond about wether I am ALLOWED to pay for new windows and doors, they are rediculous.

I have a shared ownership property with a HA and we are responsible for all repairs and maintenance of the property and have installed all new windows and doors plus done some building work within the property with no issues. The HA stated that as long as we were not doing any major building/structural work then they didn't need to be involved. We have buildings insurance with them as part of the service charge if that's relevant. Hth.

Did you have to get written permission for the windows? They are dragging their heels giving it to me for some reason.

I have building insurance with them too. My understanding was that im responsible for everything inside, plus thr garden and fences etc, they are just in charge of structural shell of the house. So I wanted to find out if thats the case for other ppl, basically the ha changed companies and the new ones arent really up on the shared leases.
