If I return to work early does my employer have pay the remaining smp?

Hi I am currently on mat leave and quite frankly finding things a struggle with the massive cut in income. I am playing with the idea of return to work before my 39 weeks of smp are up. If I return to work does my employer have to pay me the remaining weeks of smp or do I give up the right to those by returning to work?

You give it up by returning to work. So your pay will just go back to normal.
