DS who is nearly 12 wants a bank account with a cashcard. Any recommendations?

DDs have Barclays ones. It's slightly easier to open accounts at your own bank.
I assume all the main banks do them.

My only advice, if you have a bank that opens on Saturdays open one there. DD1 gets very frustrated she can only put money in, in the holidays or by sending her forgetful mother.

Santander.

My two are with santander. I did make them research it though in terms of local branches, opening hours, interest rates, online banking etc. Felt it was a good time for them to start learning about it.

Dd has an HSBC account which also has online banking which is good

DD has a Barclays one too - tis very annoying that is not open when she gets home from school or on the weekend to pay her cheques in, but she has no problem using the card for online spending!

I've just opened one at lloyds for my 12 year old. It is easier with id to do it at your own bank.

Halifax gives them a card.

DD1 has got a letter this morning to say. You need to come in and wave some ID and fill in a form or well tax your non existent interest.

Well at least it came in the holidays or it wouldn't happen for weeks. I'm sure she'll like another excuse not to revise.
