Ex owns house

A man owns a house, with mortgage. His ex lives there with the child. He rents elsewhere.

If he pays the mortgage, does this count as maintenance?

It's not my business. I'm just nosey Smile

Agree with the PP. If they were married and divorced, the financial settlement may be that the mortgage payments are in lieu of maintenance. For some, however, the agreement is more about division of assets. One keeps paying the mortgage and the other substantially reduces their claim of the capital realised from the sale of the property in the future, usually when the DCs are older.
