Thanks all. Have sat down and thought things through. Guess my biggest worry is her finding my new landlord and making things even more difficult for me. She's already spoken to the new livery where I keep my horses. Had the new owner warn me this evening that if I don't pay on time I will be out with no notice Hmm. Guess I just need to keep going and get myself out if this. It's just very hard.

ishesingle · 26/03/2014 19:24

Thereishope - that is horrible and you should do your best to ignore other people - I bet very few are judging you. To put it in perspective my debts at highest were £43.5k and are still £27k over 2 years later. I know it is relative to income but your debts are really not bad and most people will owe that amount or more at many times in their lives.

I had a good day Grin Sold an item I had forgotten I owned and got more than I expected. Overdraft according to YNAB is almost dead. Have another item ending Saturday which will hopefully kill it altogether. Bank balance looking very healthy at £400 in credit with just 4 days to payday! Not very much in categories to spend on DS's birthday do, but I had allocated £50 of Monday's wages to overdraft which now won't be needed there, so it'll all even out to zero "ynab-overdraft" and happy son. Grin

Have done next months budget and put away £70 towards hen weekend away in May (paid for but need spends so splitting it across 2 months), extra "eating/going out" money, as my own birthday is in April, plus friend is having leaving do, and some towards car repairs (need wipers!) and house repairs (light fitting in DS1's room knackered). Also a little to EF, which I will now start to build, although am VERY happy that my OD limit can now sit there, unused, for emergencies only.

A really good month and 100% all thanks to YNAB. Grin

Thinking...have you thought about seeking legal advice about this females actions?

ishesingle · 26/03/2014 19:36

Sorry, should have said thinkingaboutfostering in my last message - not thereishope. Reading on phone and getting my stories muddled. And I second what Mum said - maybe ring the non emergency police line for advice.

thinkingaboutfostering · 26/03/2014 19:39

I wasn't sure if there was anything I could legal wise? The things she's saying are in the most part true. It's just not information that I would want shared about me and my situation.

TalkinPeace · 26/03/2014 20:02

please do not go down the legal route : it just makes lawyers richer and everybody else angrier

pixiestix · 26/03/2014 23:54

Sorry to have been AWOL for a week or two - in my defence, I had a gorgeous little girl on the 17th! Grin it's been a crazy and spendy time and the budget has gone out the window. Need to spend the rest of this week getting back on track. It's very easy to use my beautiful squishy non-sleeping girl as an excuse to buy things unthinkingly on the credit card - feeding tops, takeaways, a playmat etc. don't want to go too far down that route having only just started to sort myself out.

KinkyDorito · 27/03/2014 06:03

Congratulations pixie!! Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

themoneyone · 27/03/2014 06:09

pixie congrats Grin (and right now takeaways are probably an essential Wink).

2BFree · 27/03/2014 07:10

Congratulations!
Know exactly what you mean about buying stuff feeling like necessary and irresistible with a baby. But don't! Grin

Mum2Fergus · 27/03/2014 15:24

Woohoo...our first baby!! Congratulations!!

MarvellousMabel · 27/03/2014 18:44

Ah congratulations.

Difficult to maintain the momentum when something earth shattering like a new baby comes along isn't it?

Mum2Fergus · 27/03/2014 22:00

Evening all Smile

Mostly NSDs this week bar milk/bread. However! Last night ended up in DS bed and he in with DP...and jeez, it was so uncomfortable, bless him, felt awful today! So have invested in a new mattress for him...£220 down to £85 from Tesco Direct so will get clubcard vouchers and add to petrol discount too Smile

DP having backdated payrise in salary this month so is upping his repayment to what he owes me, which in turn I'll pay off my overdraft...full update at month end but feel a good month coming on Grin

2BFree · 27/03/2014 22:10

Well all my plans have gone awry. No luck with beko who suggested I try the retailer. Sent an email.
This month:
Electric final bill 120
Car service and brakes 400
New oven?
So, my plans to work out where the money went and pay it off a cc have just flown out the window. Deep breath.

Kitchengadget · 28/03/2014 19:48

Hi everyone, can I join? I've been reading and taking loads of inspiration from you guys. I've paid off the credit cards and now I'm trying to pay off the mortgage.

My weakness are my daughter, only child, she's only 5 but instead of buying her things she's now earning her coins and saving for treats and moreover she's enjoying it. Other weakness is organisation, I'm always tight on time, short of sleep and chasing my tail. I can save loads by being organised, taking lunch to work, having a plan for meals, even just small things like getting the washing done and on the line, it all makes a big difference. I'm slipping back into old habits and due to health reasons I need to get the mortgage down while I can.

So I'd like to sign in and report/record! I'm going to take time this weekend to get myself back on track :-)

Mum2Fergus · 28/03/2014 20:10

Welcome Kitchen! Organisation is definitely the key...meal planning, batch cooking, etc Smile

ishesingle · 28/03/2014 20:57

Welcome Kitchen and well done on paying off those credit cards! Grin

After a very frugal week I kind of blew it today:

  • £30 in Aldi on snacks for DS party and stuff for lunch for Mother's Day / birthday boys x 2 (DS and DF) on Sunday
-£16 in Tesco on stuff I couldn't get in Aldi, and Betty Crocker cake making things (DS loves the red velvet cake so that's his birthday cake)
  • £16 to get nails done. Monthly treat. Should have waited until payday but they looked awful and I wanted them nice for weekend celebrations.
  • £5 on 3 x cards
  • £20 withdrawn to hand over as contribution to DF's big birthday present
  • £14.50 for 2 x Primarni tops as last couple of gifts for DS2
  • £25 online for ecig liquid to last through April - always run out in last day or two so bought an extra bottle this month so I can have a bit in hand at the end of April and not panic!

I'm still in credit officially and I didn't raid savings pots - I took some of the money I had paid off the official "ynab overdraft" to even things out, then I adjusted next month so OD will still be gone by April 1st. Basically, I didn't budget enough for the big birthday weekend. Lesson learnt.

Have created a "kids shared expenses" category for costs associated with the ex so I am not only clear about what he owes me, I'll also use it to save for things like school uniform and annual subs etc, which I hadn't considered in my budget - and for expenses of parties - their own and their friends.

Still pretty happy with March progress Grin

WinterLover · 29/03/2014 06:21

Spent yesterday working oyt what money we didn't have. we have £150 to last 5 weeks for food and fuel. Stressed thinking about it Sad

I got a response from a debt collector yesterday about upping my monthly amount. The letter says they are no linger responsible for my debt and to contact my creditor. I contacted them who were equally confused as the debt should still be with the collectors. They've advised I pay them (cteditors) direct for now. Will make doubly sure I know how much I've paid if its swapping around like this

Badvoc · 29/03/2014 08:43

Dh and I are doing our accounts later in this morning....wish me luck! :(
I think there will be lots if shouting (me) and lots of gnashing of teeth (him)

Badvoc · 29/03/2014 08:43

I know all of Dhs bonus has gone to paying off his overdraft :(

KinkyDorito · 29/03/2014 08:57

Badvoc Good luck Wine. At least OD is gone though - that's good.

Had a gratifying first trip to do full shop at Aldi and was very pleased with my £35 spend. Down side is we'd already done Tesco for some bits so I'm now at about £60. This is still far better than the £100+ I'd usually spend.

ishesingle · 29/03/2014 10:03

Winter - that doesn't sound like much - how much fuel do you use? Is there anything you can ebay?

Badvoc - good luck. Paying off OD is great though - lovely to have all wages as a credit to the account on payday - I've lived in an OD my entire life and I can't wait for Monday to see my balance being more than my wages rather than less!

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 29/03/2014 10:17

We are sitting down to update our debt payments and budget today although DH hasn't yet been paid for overtime etc just his basic wage. we are hoping the extra payments will go in on Monday. He has a job interview on Tuesday for this new post so we will spend the weekend prepping him for that. I actually find it hard to breathe when I think of it - it would change our lives so much.

2BFree · 29/03/2014 11:53

Good luck for Tuesday miss annersley .
Badvoc at least he's interested? And if you cancel the overdraft being in credit feels lovely.
Sort of good news - currys have offered credit towards a new oven (not that sort of credit Grin)
