v long story, but basically catalogue of errors by solicitors means that sale of my mothers house is going to fall through if they dont get their arses in gear. i need some nice technical terms to throw at them, and i would quite like to know where i stand with getting them to pay out for stuff that will now cost loads more as it needs doing now rather than in a few weeks time when united utilities get round to it. its because they have not bothered to pick up the phone and sort it out despite knowing it needed doing for 3 whole weeks.

anyone please?

Threaten them with the Law Society. Do it in a letter - set out exactly what complaints you have and the consequences to you of their errors. Explain what steps you took to try and get them to sort things out. And what losses you are now going to suffer. Address the letter to the Complaints Partner. And if there isn't a satisfactory resonse then write to the Law Society, enclosing that letter and their response.

thats good to know, we are def going to complain

i need to phone them tomorrow as we have 2 weeks to get the sale to go through. buyers solicitor says it will take 1 week to sort paperwork, we need to get a check done by united utilities which they say they wont do within that time but we could get some expensive contractor in. do you think they should pay as it would not have been a problem if they did it before? sale will def fall through if we wait so it seems reasonable to me
