Have I been ripped off?

I enrolled on an online photography course called Proudphotography.com. Its an american site which I came across because the first course I looked at via Groupon had awful reviews but this had only good reviews on several genuine (I suppose) review sites.

It cost me £58 paid with my credit card.

I started on the first lesson yesterday and all seemed to be going well. Very professional set up, no dodgy indicators.

Today I tried to log in and the website had vanished. I emailed and the email was returned daemon mailer. They have a quiet facebook page and I have posted on there but no replies. Basically they have vanished.

I am gutted. I will post in financial too but does anyone have any advice. Sad Sad Sad

If you paid with a credit card it should be protected against fraud & such. I'd contact your credit card company & explain what's happened.

Sorry though sounds very suspect. Maybe try & find a course where you can go somewhere & learn in person? Or buy a few good books?

Ive got lots of books but i learn better interacting short attention span The photoshop course i enrolled in was cancelled last month because not enough people turned up. I'll have another look at photography locally though as I now have the urge to do both.

I'll certainly check with my credit card company

cheers still sad [happy]

I'm not covered if its under £100 but i might get something under the 'chargeback' scheme. I dont know if being an american company will affect the claim. of course its new years day tomorrow!

Yes they have been going since 2008. I don't do twitter. The email was also returned so maybe its also hacked or some such. Ive emailed the credit card company just to know where i stand really.

I may be premature if the phot course has been hacked, but at least I'll get an idea of where i stand. Thanks all.

I'll look on the email for a contact number or address i can get a number for.

they're on you tube too so its all a bit odd
