Thinking of buying a house but not sure about the area......

is there a website for checking the crime statistics in a cretain area/street. Would the police be able to help? Not sure what checks to carry out.

There is, is it not up my street or something similar although the areas they cover tend to be quite wide so it is not 100% accuarate

mum2sam go on your gut feeling for the area. Wish I'd done it for last house in Scotland instead ended hating the area, but h loved the house . Here in CO, they publish the crime stats every week in the local paper which is good. Try and find the local online newspaper and find out what's going on it's a good indicator for the area, ie arrests, crime in general always makes good news.
