Mortgage for a freelancer?

DH works freelance, and we want to change our existing mortgage. I work part time and am about to go on maternity leave.

We were recommended a mortgage company, but as soon as you mention freelance they're not interested. Does anyone have advice about what we can do, and has anybody in a similar situation been able to find a good mortgage?

Any advice much appreciated.

Have you tried going to your own bank? I'm freelance and just got a mortgage for 5.5 x net profit from a high st bank. You need two years accounts. I had quite a big deposit which helped get a good rate.

Try Contractor Money. My husband and I are both self employed contractors and we have arranged two mortgages using them. They have special relationships with most lenders so they use different methods to apply for mortgages for people who aren't permanent employees. They base what we are able to borrow on our contract rate and how long our contracts are. They are really good in my opinion.
