Not the best when it comes to understanding bills etc. Could someone help me with this probably very simple question. I have a credit balance on my credit card of £5. do I owe them that? I thought I had nothing on this card. On my gas bill I have £50 debit (I pay direct debit) does this mean I should increase my payments or do I have £50 extra on the account. Arrrrgh!

credit card, credit balance = they owe you

debit balance on utility account = you owe them (and they'll change your direct debit)
