Missold endowment by IFA - anyone appealed successfully?

Six months after submitting a claim for an endowment that was missold to us in 1990 by an IFA, the parent company of the IFA (who is no longer in business) has written to tell us our claim is time barred. We should have claimed within 6 years of buying the policy or within 3 years of learning that it wouldn't cover the mortgage. We were never informed that there was a time limit in which to apply for misselling compensation, but I don't know if I can be arsed continuing the process and filling out ANOTHER set of forms. Has anyone appealed to the ombudsman sucessfully about a time-barred claim?

I think it has been fairly well advertised taht they are time limited - so as they can get around just this problem.

It may be worth giving them a call and asking if they would suggest appealing or not?

TBH - I am not sure - but the compensation would be worht having I would expect so may be worth a bit of extra work?

BTW I have not really seen much advertising myself but I know that this line has been used by them for quite some time.

Thank you. I've read lots about imminent (sp?)time limits being set by the financial companies, but I didn't realise that IFAs had already set them. As you say, I may as well appeal. I've got nothing to lose. Thanks.

hope it works for you - the fewer who get away with it the better!
