How much do you put aside to entertain kids in summer hols?

With the summer holidays only 4 weeks away I have started planning activities for my 6 and 4 year old. We have a week away on holiday but aside from that I wondered how much cash people spend on entertaining the children for the holidays.

Very little as we don't have the money at the moment. I've splashed out on a cool box on wheels and I plan to spend days on the beach, in the park etc and take food with us, spending very very little, probably £2 a day on ice-creams if they're lucky. Obviously I will need good weather for this .

Normally £50, this year £0. Have been saving tescos clubcard vouchers so have a few days out, legoland/thorpe park/alton towers planned which will require petrol and a picnic money.

I don't allow any extra really. Maybe put aside £30 a week for a day trip somewhere, but that applies during term time too. My solution for this year has been to buy the kids outdoor stuff for their bdays. Now we have a garden full of toys. Bouncy castle, huge inflatable paddling pool, swing, slides, seaseaw, swingball, etc. They can now run riot out there, while I sip chilled wine on the patio with my laptop.

btw the bouncy castle i got was a bargain, £23 from ELC.

Don't really do trips to places like Alton Towers, kids a bit young yet and are just as happy at the park! Luckily! I am planning on taking them camping, trip to the beach, walks in the woods, picnics (they love them), get togethers with friends we don't see very often, maybe a trip to London for a walkabout or the Natual History Musuem. Don't plan on spending much. Always take a packed lunch (and drinks) - ha ha - see drinks thread!
