I'm separating from my partner, i have 3 children (2 at school the other is only 1) I run a small business totally alone which brings in a little (under 5k a year) and i can claim tax credits.

This is where the problems lie?rent in our area is around 8-900pcm, then council tax (tho looks like id get a reduction) and food which all together looks as though i may be really fucking skint just about able to scrape through. Just wondering what people pay for gas/electric/water etc?is there anything else iv missed? any other help i can get? How do people do it?

Iv never been on benefits and this is all so new and totally daunting. I'd be entitled to housing benefit but finding a landlord who accepts it is impossible really hard.

Sorry this thread is all over the place, just need a little advice?.

I've never been on it but apparently there is a helpful website called entitled to.com which will help with benefits etc. what about maintenance?

good luck!

My single biggest piece of advice would be to move to somewhere much cheaper if at all possible.

That is not as easy as it sounds though I know.
