Don't know what to do any ideas?

Dh and I are about to be totally and utterly up shit creek.

Dh is about to be suspended and probably sacked, I only work part time, we have no mortgage insurance, no savings, credit card debt of £3000 and just got a new car.

Two children one school age and one nursery age and I really don't know what to do.

He could get sacked but appeal ( really don't know what outcome would be) or resign. But he won't get JSA either way will he?
Tax credits won't help will they as I only work 20 and not 24 hours - and does it not go on your previous year amount any way so would likely get no help. Work might be able to increase my hours.

Really asking is there any help out there? He's looking for jobs but there isn't a lot out there. Cv been updated for the both of us as both looking and see what suits either of us.

I think he will get JSA if he is sacked.

As for the credit card loan, contact

The advice is free.

And visit your local C.A.B office, they can be very helpful.

As far as tax credits go, they do base it on last years income but if you have a substantial drop in income, you can let them know and hopefully they can readjust your award based on this years estimated income. It depends what your dh has earned so far this tax year and what you have earned and will earn for the rest of the year. The threshold with 2 children is around £32K. Do you already claim child tax credits? If not then you will need to open a new claim and it can take a few weeks to sort out, so do it as soon as his job ends. Be sure to then update them promptly if he getsanother job otherwise you will end up with an overpayment tto pay back. you are correct that you will not get working tax credits unless you can increase your hours to 24. I'm sorry I really don't know about JSA. Hope things work out for you.

Thanks very much for your replies. Our cab office was appointment only and closed on a Friday. Will know more about the job status on Monday and can call them and job centre.
Already claim tax credits and usual income normally £22k a year and will now only be £8k so ill phone and see what they say.
Trying so hard not to think about what it's going to be like in 2-3 months time - I physically feel sick when I do.
