Anyone know about the NHS prescription passport thingy?

I now have to take 2 lots of meds each month and may well have to for some time.
So that will be over £15 per month :(
Would a passport thingy work out cheaper?
How does it work?
Was going to ask at pharmacy yesterday but it had closed by the time I left the gp.

Here we go.

DH pays £10.40/month for an annual card, a massive saving for us over paying for his prescriptions. It says that if you have 3 meds in a month a 3 month card will work out cheaper.

You can ask about it in any pharmacy or apply online here.

It would def work out cheaper, I get about 8 prescriptions a month, no way I could afford all of them without a prepayment certificate I just do the monthly direct debit. Save your receipts til you get it as I think you can claim them back.

Get a receipt & form with your prescription and you'll get your money refunded - save money straightaway!

Remember if you get an NHS receipt, you need I back date the prepayment certificate to the date of the first NHS receipt in order to get that money refunded.

E.g if you got a receipt for a prescription you paid on 26/7 bit you didn't start your certificate until 27/7 you won't get back the £££ from the 26th.

YES. Apply online and get the number of the card, you can then use it from the moment you apply. It doesn't take long to arrive in the post.

More than one prescription a month and you save.
