How can I work out what percentage of Tax and NI contributions I make out of my pitiful wages?

Filling in various forms for uni, need to find out what my NI cont and Tax is likely to be from sept, how can i work it out? or is it a secret thing made up by the bods in the suits in london??

anyone help me??

that would be fab, i have looked at the Inland Rev site and cant make any sense of it.

Have a look on direct.gov.uk, it tells you thresholds and things so you can work it out on your own wages.
