Goping back to basics (basic bank account?)

i had a basic account for years, couldnt use charge cards etc on it, kept me out of debt.
anyway, i want to clear this overdraft. i have an idea of setting up a new basic account, and setting up payments into the account with overdraft to cover any direct dibets etc plus extra each month to slowly clear the overdraft. do u think this will work? will having a basic account be a bad thing?

definatly as long as u don't use the a/c wiith the o/d.

this was also our idea - 2 joint a/c one only for bills and one for 'fun' as it were. we couldn't get a second joint one, so we use a single a/c instead, and the joint seems to be working to save etc and we're not in a o/d or anything any more.
