Life insurance policy into trust?

Hello

DH has just taken out a level term assurance policy and the insurance company has sent us a declaration of trust form, all seems straightforward apart from the part where it asks us to name the beneficiaries. It seems like you can name several but we want to name myself and then have DD in there second i.e. only to benefit if I have died.

Anyone know how you are supposed to word it in that instance please?

Thanks!

I know ALL about this as its my job to know.

What you have there is a "discretionary" trust. It will be at the trustees' discretion on your husband's death who the money is paid to.

Are you named as a trustee? You should be.

The names he puts in are just guidance.

Happy to help further.

So just put down the husband/wife and if they die too the trustees will arrange for it to be directed to children as per the will?

Sorry to hijack OP!
