JSA application help

Sorry feeling stupid but there is a question on the online application for job seekers allowance as follows:

"does this child have any other parent who lives elsewhere"

I am a single parent and the never informed the dad - do I tick yes as he is still alive (I presume) or no as I wouldn't class him as the parent!

Confused!

Tick yes as that is the correct answer. You may get the opportunity to explain later on the form
