Anyone out there been brave enough to have their basements dug out and if so was it worth it. Also be interested to know roughly the cost as can't get any of the companies on the web to commit to "how much roughly" without seeing the property and we havent bought it yet!! Very interested to hear from anyone with experience of this.
Thanks.

My friend had one done. Excellent use of space. Also has ensuite shower room. Big job. Very disruptive. Cost her approx. £30,000 (London)
Can't remember how long it took to complete though. Pricey but definitely worth it.

Yes, we have - it's great. But it was eye-wateringly expensive, so much so that I don't really want to post the amount on here! Do CAT me if you want more info though.

FWIW ours was much more expensive than jalopy's friends.

sister is hving it done this summer about 100,000 but quite big. I'll check with her cost per metre. She already have a cellar just making it larger/inhabitable.

Thanks Dinosaure I will CAT you. I must admit I did think the cost would probably be very prohibitive and far more than loft conversion prices.

Thanks for the posts. Smile
