Cos I think I'm getting close to the threshold (is it 58K?)it is on turnover not profit isn't it?

Is child care Vatable? (is that a word?)

Is it exempt?

Is there any where I can look?
TIA

I don't know about the childcare but it is on turnover and not profit.

Katymac · 10/05/2006 22:20

Thanks Essbee

If childcare is exempt (which it might be) the business link site says I don't register

I've got a hunch that it's exempt, I don't remember any vat part on my children's nursery invoices when they went. It may have been, of course, that their turnover wasn't high enough.

Wouldn't you know it the VAT website is offline tonite (just when I wanted to use itSadWink)

geekgrrl · 10/05/2006 22:40

mmmh, no VAT on our nursery invoices, and they are well above the threshold.

amylou · 11/05/2006 13:03

Childcare is vat exempt.. I work in an accountants and do some books for a nursery thats well well over the threshold and they are not registered so you are ok.

Katymac · 11/05/2006 20:22

GRRRRR after 3 converstaions with the VAT office the answer is that no-ones knows

Nurseries are definatley not VATable - but I am not an eligible body apparently

They refuse to say I am a the same as a nursery or afterschool club & think I am eligible for paying VAT

I can't see my parents going for that
