Has anyone out there ever had to apply or know anything about these. Estranged husband has said he will no longer pay half the debts. I already only have 33quid a week after paying bills and debts. Someone advised a dro how does it work. I'm self employed, no assets. I've already sold my jewellery to pay bills. My car is worth 400 and I need it for work. Can anyone help please. Oh I rent from a housing association

Are the debts in joint names?

If they are you can call the companies and tell them that you accept responsibility for 50% of the debt but they need to go after your ex for the rest, and give them his address.
A friend of mine did this when her ex stopped paying his debts and they came after her for the whole amount each month.

Alternatively, write to the companies, explain your situation, include a full breakdown of your monthly income and outgoings. Explain that you have no way to afford the payments, and give them a realistic offer of what you can afford to pay, tell them it's that or nothing, chances are they will accept it without much fuss.

how much debt do you have? you cant have debts over 15k for a dro but it does sound like you meet the criteria. call national debtline or payplan as they can process a dro on your behalf x
