Protection provided when buying good by credit card

I'm buying a car from a Uk main dealer, but It's a long way from home and the dealer will be delivering the car here.

When I've bought cars in the past, I've only handed over the money (or sent the payment) when I was in the showroom, next to the car. On this occasion I will need to transfer funds before the dealer sets off with the vehicle.

I'm reasonably happy with this arrangement, as I said it's a UK main dealer, but I suppose there is a lingering concern about them taking the money and not delivering the car, or going bust before it's delivered.

I know buying by credit card provides some protection, but I won't be able to pay the whole sum by card. The dealer has suggested that if I pay the deposit by credit card, the whole sum is covered under s.75. Is that right? I haven't been able to find any confirmation.

Thank you
