A very geeky question about P11D cash equivalent for car - help!

Would anyone know why the car cash equivalent is higher 2011/12 than 2010/11 for the same car? Don't understand it. Am just doing DH's tax return.

The benefit is calculated by using the "appropriate percentage" of the car's purchase price. This percentage is based on the car's emissions and there were some changes between 2010/11 and 2011/12 - particularly for emissions in the range 125-130 g/km. Fuel benefits also changed, if this is not shown separately. There are more changes to come in 2012/13 and 2013/14 too.

If you want the exact calculation for your DH's car, ask the employer.
