Childcare vouchers and income tax

Hi. I work part time, about to go on mat leave. When I get back I hope to get childcare vouchers. At the moment I get just over the income tax personal allowance. If the vouchers are taken before tax the remainder of my salary will be under the threshold. Does this mean I won't pay income tax? Not sure if I've understood correctly
