Debt Advice Agencies: know any pro-active ones?

We're in serious need of this - have difficult and some deeply entrenched debts and are struggling to deal with creditors and the like. Put our trust at one time in Christians Against Poverty and have found them (perhaps we've been unlucky) hands off and very bad at communication.

Spoke to Step Change who seemed good - but does anyone have experience of a debt charity that might be prepared to engage with creditors when that's appropriate - we are determined to sort everything out but need a helping hand and, if possible, a reputable agency that can 'talk' to creditors.

Thanks -

Depending on what area you're in the local Citizens Advice Bureau might be able to help out, up until April anyway when they will lose the funding.

No personal experience but know people who have used Payplan or
Consumer Credit Counselling Services (CCCS) - good luck

We used CCCS. They guided us into the right solution for us.
