It's been so stressful lately!!! My husband used to work horrible shifts which was having a bad effect on our family. He changed jobs, took a huge paycut and now we're stuck!!!
We had been really happy until I realised that the money we're earning is no longer paying for all our outgoings. Luckily we have some savings to help cover the costs but we've now decided we have to move.
We've realised we don't have any support from our families and we're going to move from Essex to Durham up North-which is a huge change!!!
I'm so scared-don't know if we're doing the right thing!!! Everything makes sense but it doesn't stop me thinking twice about it all!!!

It will be fine! Quick potted history of MamaG

My DH and I both worked full time and lived in Leeds with DD (now 6) being looked after by my mum, moved 18 months ago when DS was a baby to Cumbria, actually got a bigger house for less money (but no garden). I now work Mon Tue Weds, DH works Thurs Fri and we share the childcare.

The best thing we ever did! We did it without much support from our families (apart from my Mum, who paid for the removal firm!)

Good luck, you're doing the right thing, putting you family first, not DH's job. :)

It is so scarey making big changes, you just have to hold onto the thought that all WILL be well.

We have to go thru very unsettling times/emotions to get to a new life etc. You would not be human if you didn't think twice.
Change is very unsettling.

On a practical level to help deal with all the thoughts, preparation is key. Make sure you've prepared all the details you need to so you don't get bogged down by small details/problems that can cause more hassle than the bigger ones.

We've moved and made big changes in income, DH earns a lot less but has lots more time/energy at home. We have lived through it and it is good to have done so!

Oop North is much cheaper than Essex and the people are nicer. (I'm from Essex and living in Yorkshire so I am qualified to say so.)
Good luck - it will be great!

I know there's no ethnic minorities up there. Do you think that will be a problem? I'm asian and dh is white.
