How long to keep paperwork for?

I'm attempting to have a clear out, I am a terrible hoarder Blush, I have mountains of paperwork. Utility bills from a property I used to own, I sold it last year, wage slips going back over a decade.

What do I need to keep and what is OK to get rid of?

At least 3 years for personal records. If you rented out it is business and you should keep for 7 years. Different HMRC officials interpret this different for some it is 7 years including current years, some 7 years in addition to this year.
